A Bumper Bank Holiday Weekend for Devon!

It’s August Bank Holiday weekend, which means three whole days of summer fun for all the family!

The hardest part is finding ideas on how to spend your Bank Holiday weekend in Devon. But not to worry, Devon’s Top Attractions have a whole host of fantastic summer events and activities to choose from to help your weekend be the best ever, whatever the weather!

First up, everyone’s favourite cheeky little character Peppa Pig will be making a very special appearance at the BIG Sheep on Sunday 28 August, so be sure to say hello, or Oink Oink! It’s Super Hero Sunday over at Woodlands where there will be action-packed adventures with your favourite superheroes.

Animal lovers have lots to choose from this Bank Holiday! Visit Pennywell Farm on Sunday 28 August and witness the breathtaking Hawkeye Falconry displays. National Trust property Arlington Court will be holding a stunning Working Horse demonstration on Sunday in the grounds of the estate. And there will be a special ‘Meet the Ponies’ event on Tuesday 30 August where you can get up close with the Shetland Ponies in the courtyard.

There will be lots of special Bank Holiday fun at Seaton Tramway! Bird watching fans will love their Bird Hide on Wheels, bird watching tour on Sunday. Book now to secure your place. Families and children will also love the Dinosaur Train at Seaton Tramway running on Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday. From the creator of The Muppets, this adventure-filled tram ride with music, stories, a dinosaur activity area and a chance to meet Buddy the T.Rex, this event will not disappoint!

Ever wondered what life was like during the Middle Ages? Well you can find out this Bank Holiday at Buckland Abbey where you can head back in time to 1481. Over the three day weekend, the Medieval Free Company will be set up in the grounds of the Abbey giving you the opportunity to discover a medieval way of life within their pop up village.

For more history themed fun, how about enjoying a Victorian Bank Holiday at Bygones throughout Sunday and Monday of the weekend? Search for clues and discover more about all aspects of Queen Victoria’s reign.

At South Devon Railway steam into action with their fabulous Rails and Ales Bank Holiday Weekend! There will be steam trains running all day with departures from Totnes and Buckfastleigh. At the midway point on the line at Staverton, there will be a beer and cider festival in full swing. A fantastic family day out with steam, heritage and lots of ale!

How about letting off some steam at the Railway Gala running at Pecorama? The entire Peco fleet will be in action over the three day weekend, plus special guest locos and demonstration good trains.
