Crab Activities at the South Devon Crab Festival


There will be a range of exciting crab related activities taking place throughout the week of the South Devon Crab Festival. Keep checking back to this page as more activities are added.

South Devon Crab Trail – Learn all about these fantastic crustaceans by undertaking exciting crab challenges! Download your trail sheet now and enter the competition to win a meal at Rockfish in Dartmouth.

Cafe Alf Resco, Dartmouth - Will be holding Crab Throwing...how many can you get in the crab pot?! There will be a South Devon Crab FestivalCrabbing League Board...where will your name be?! Also "Spot the Crab" & "Guess how many Shrimps are in the Jar" competitions. Great fun for families in Dartmouth for the festival. (The crab throwing is using plastic crabs & the shrimps in the jar are sweets!!)

Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh – Take part in a Crab Quiz around the farm.  Find out details when you arrive for your visit.

Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat  Catch a Crab photo competition – Be creative and take a snap of something crabby to be in with the chance of winning a ride for four on a Steam Railway. Capture the moment a crab fisherman comes back to the quay, snap a happer snapper as it makes it's way along the beach, be creative with what crabby shots you can see.  Send your photo entries to crabfestival@visitsouthdevon.co.uk by the 10th of August for your chance of winning.
 
Winners will be chosen on creativity and quality of snap.  All ages welcome and age of photographer will be taken into consideration. Winners will be informed via email by no later than the 20th August 2012..

Crab Hunt, Teignmouth and Dawlish – Hunt for the crabs hiding in Teignmouth or Dawlish to be in with a chance of winning a Reefer Crabbing Kit!

Some pesky crabs have hidden themselves away in shop, restaurant and cafe windows.  See how many you can find and write down the names of the businesses you spy them in.  Pick a leaflet up from either the Tourist Information Centre in Teignmouth or Dawlish to discover where these clever crustaceans might be hiding.
