We love good food down here in South Devon, and we like to celebrate everything that’s best about West Country food with festivals and events throughout the year. If you fancy joining us then one of the best ways to discover why we’re so passionate about food in Devon is the Dartmouth Food Festival in the beautiful medieval town of Dartmouth, on the banks of the Dart estuary. Dartmouth has a range of events throughout the year, from sailing regattas through to arts festivals, but the Food Festival is the one that everyone gets really excited about.
The Dartmouth Food Festival is a major West Country event and draws in over 10,000 visitors from across the UK every year. It is a showcase for the quality, enthusiasm and commitment to quality of the food and drink producers in South Devon, from local organic farms right through to winemakers. You can wander around a diverse range of stalls where you’ll find both traditional and contemporary produce.
Inspired by the traditions of Devon
The food and drink on show is inspired by the areas strong links to farming, fishing and producing, and celebrates the very best in good quality, locally produced recipes. As well as the food stalls, you’ll pick up some great cooking tips at the exhibitions by top chefs. You’ll be able to taste the results in the many restaurants and cafés in the town, and there’s entertainment for all ages to keep the family happy.
The Dartmouth Food Festival is centred on the historic Market Square, where the main events are held. Here you can enjoy cookery demonstrations, children’s activities, wine tasting and lots more. In the evenings the local art galleries open for a range of exhibitions, while the local restaurants cater for a range of dishes inspired by the festival.
With award-winning chefs on hand to show off their skills and imagination as well as their enthusiasm for South Devon’s excellent standards of farm and marine produce, the Dartmouth Food Festival offers you a great way to experience the very best in local food and drink.
