Bishopsteignton, South Devon

An ancient settlement with a fascinating history, the village is built on a hillside and offers stunning views of the Teign Estuary. The small village museum opens during summer weekends and has a wealth of material illustrating the way of life in the village over many generations. Above the village, past the ruins of the church, which was part of the fourteenth century Bishops Palace, can be found the Little Haldon Heath nature reserve. This site has a car park and picnic facilities and is a good starting point for walks.

Bishopsteignton occupies a large village on the north bank of the Teign Estuary a mile or two west of Teignmouth. Fine views over the estuary. Convenient for the sea at Teignmouth or estuary walks. Little Haldon Heath nature reserve is situated at the top of the village. There is a local museum, church, pubs, local shops and accommodation.
