Newton Abbot Carnival

A jam-packed week of Carnival events including Carnival Procession and the Crowning of Carnival Queen all from 4th to 12th July 2009.
Programme of Events

Saturday 4th July
11am – 3pm
Duck race ticket selling, Courtenay Street.
12am Crowning of the Carnival Queen in Wolborough Street.
11am-1pm Newton Abbot & District Town Band playing outside of Austins.


Sunday 5th July
2.30pm Band Concert by Tiverton Town Band in Courtenay Park. (admission free)
Take a seat, enjoy the music and relax in the sunshine.

Monday 6th July
7.30pm Carnival Quiz Night at The Richard Hopkins Queen Street. (£5 a team, max of4)
Relax in a friendly atmosphere, have a drink and test your knowledge skills. Come and join in and have some fun.

Tuesday 7th July
7.15 pm Talk on ‘Newton Abbot’ by Fred Tozer – at the Recreational Trust.

Wednesday 8th July
5.30pm


Duck Race from Steppes Meadow to ASDA. (£1 a ticket – purchased from the Tourist Information Centre & Town Hall)
Family Treasure Hunt - starting at ASDA and finishing at the Recreational Trust. (£2 a family). 8pm onwards Family BBQ at the Recreational Trust.

Thursday 9th July
7.30pm - 11.00pm
Rock ’n’ Roll Night at Forde Hall.
7.15 pm Talk on the ‘First Carnival’ by Michael Martyn - Town Hall

Friday 10th July
From 6.45pm Fun Run. (main race £5 each, junior / family race £2.50 each)
7.15pm
Carnival Darts Knock-Out Final at The Royal British Legion.

Saturday 11th July
From 2pm Finale of the Carnival, Courtenay Park. (admission free)
Fun Rides, a Bouncy Castle and charity stalls - Fun for all the Family!
Carnival procession leaves Courtenay Park at 6.30 pm & finishes at the Recreational Trust.
7.30pm - 11.00pm
Family disco, fun rides and Hog roast at the Recreational Trust. (admission free)


Sunday 12th July
3pm
Carnival Jazz in Courtenay Park Bandstand. This event is sponsored by Christians Together in Newton Abbot 7 District.
