Rigoletto (Verdi)

From Melbourne Australia, baritone James Hancock brings intensity and pathos to the role of the despised and insolent jester Rigoletto. As the powerful and volatile libertine Duke of Mantua, James Heath (tenor), will delight audiences with some best-loved and glorious melodies of all time (“Quest’ o quella” and “La donna è mobile). The assassin Sparafucile, is sung by American bass Paul Goodwin-Groen and his sister, the enticing Maddalena, by Australian Katrina Waters.

Based on Victor Hugo’s vividly effective play le Roi s’amuse, “Rigoletto” is considered to be one of Verdi’s finest operas. Packed with melody, the sheer emotional passion of this fantastic opera continues to enthral audiences today. Directed by Martyn Harrison, “Rigoletto” is sung in English and the New Devon Opera orchestra of eighteen musicians is conducted by Dr Paul Foster.

Special computer hardware and software, hand-scanners, walking frames and holiday breaks are some of the ways in which your contribution goes towards giving pleasure and fulfillment to those with sensory impairment and multiple disabilities.
