Situated on Beesands seafront. You will 'pick your own' live crab or lobster (cooked available to order). Also, a variety of other shellfish and the very best local fresh fish, hand-picked crabmeat a speciality. Open every day during the season - ring for details. Britannia Shellfish is a family run business situated right on the beach at Beesands. Our own caught crab, lobster and scallops are held in large seawater tanks for optimum quality and freshness. Here you can 'pick your own' shellfish or have it cooked for you, if you prefer. We also sell freshest local wet fish, line caught bass, mackerel, skate, lemonsole etc. dressed 'Start Bay' crab is a speciality (ready to eat). If you time it right you could be lucky enough to see the crab and fish being landed on the beach directly in front of our premises. Ice creams, cold drinks and homemade crab sandwiches are also available during the summer. We will be happy to make up a seafood box (contents of your choice) of fresh vacuum packed seafood - ideal for the freezer. Britannia is planning to open a cafe on the seafront next year, which will specialise in our own seafood and other locally sourced products. Road Directions

From Kingsbridge take the A379 Dartmouth coastal road. At Stokenham (mini roundabout) take Beesands/East Prawle road. Continue for about 2 miles down quite narrow lanes, through the hamlet of Beeson. Keep going and you will see the sea from the top of the hill. As you reach the seafront turn right and Britannia is situated on the beach next to the chapel. Public Transport: There is no public transport to Beesands. By Foot: Follow National Trust coastal footpath - Britannia is situated between Torcross and Hallsands.
