Cookworthy Museum, Kingsbridge

Discover the story of Kingsbridge and the South Hams in our 17thC schoolroom, Victorian kitchen, and large farm gallery in a walled garden – everything from costumes to carts!

New exhibition for 2008 in the refurbished Duncombe Gallery – ‘Start Bay: A Fragile Landscape’. Special exhibitions: ‘Quite An Occasion’ showing the costumes worn for celebrations over the years, ‘All in a Day’s Work’ and ‘Royal Souvenirs’.

Something for all the family in this lively local museum, come rain or shine.

Special services: Local Heritage Resource Centre – archives, photographs, maps, local newspapers from 1855, local history information. The Centre is open all year, Monday – Thursday 10 a.m. – 12 noon and Wednesdays 2 – 4 p.m., or by appointment.

Nearest major road is A38. Take A384 to Totnes turn and then follow signed A381 to Kingsbridge. Museum at top of town. The museum is at the top of Fore street in Kingsbridge, 100 yards from the Fore Street car park.

Public Transport Directions

Nearest station is Totnes station. Bus stop opposite Museum, on main bus routes. Town shuttle bus operates circular route from main bus stop on Kingsbridge Quay.
