A New Guide to the Best South Devon Food & Drink

A new essential Guide to the best eating and drinking in Devon was launched at the Love the Flavour Food & Gardening Festival at Fermoy's Garden Centre, following the merger of the two established food and drink groups in South Devon.

Love The FlavourThe 2008 Love the Flavour Guide is published by Food and Drink Devon as a result of South Hams Food & Drink Association and the South Devon and Dartmoor Food Group coming together. The Guide offers the very best of the region's products and hospitality with 115 companies featured that either produce or use product originating from South Devon, including some 50 great places to eat out that use quality, local food and drink produce.

Food & Drink Devon, Love The FlavourFrom specialist bakeries, purveyors of finest South Devon meats, poultry, game and fresh fish to delicatessens, makers of luxury ice creams, sauces and snacks, fruit growers and producers of fine wines, beers and beverages, the Guide has it all! Member shops that sell or home deliver local products also feature.

Karen Marshall, Food & Drink Devon co-ordinator said:

"The Love the Flavour brand is set to become nationally recognised for outstanding sustainable food and drink. The new Guide, part funded by Devon Renaissance, is an invitation to discover all that's best about Devon's culinary identity and to support producers, shops and restaurants that grow, sell or use the delicious quality food and drink available locally."

Allie Clark, Teignbridge District Council's economic development officer believes the merger is a great way forward.

"It means that under the Love the Flavour brand, the membership organisation made up of mainly small businesses, has a great future to expand and compete in the wider market place. Customers can be assured of the local provenance of food and drink products and feel good in the knowledge that members also follow sustainable business guidelines."

The free Love the Flavour Food & Drink Devon Guide is available at local tourist information centres, libraries and member outlets throughout South Devon.
