Situated in the 'olde worlde' village of Bantham where the Avon estuary meets the sea.
The 4 Star (Commended) Sloop Holiday Cottages, owner run since 1985/6, are situated at the rear of the Sloop Inn (now under new ownership). They have superb views of Bantham Bay and Burgh Island and the facilities of the adjacent pub and a well stocked village shop, which also serves breakfast, coffee, lunches, and teas, to take the strain out of self-catering. A little further afield the South Hams provides a wealth of good quality restaurants serving fresh local foods, or a wide variety of take-aways some of which will deliver to your door.

Bantham provides probably the finest undeveloped beach in the South Hams, sailing on the Avon Esturary, wind and board surfing and many walks on the coastal paths and inland in the flower filled Devon lanes.

The area is particularly attractive in early and late season. Spring comes early in the South Hams, and summer lingers on through September. For those who enjoy an active holiday, the area has much to offer including 2 golf courses; Thurlestone (1 mile) and Bigbury (7 miles). Fishermen can enjoy both sea and river fishing with a variety of species.

Try a winter break and combine it with Christmas shopping. Our local owner-run shops in surrounding towns and villages, full to the brim with quality, interesting goods where old fashioned courtesy and service still come first, so different from city centre stores. Make a date to see the Kingsbridge Winter Carnival at the end of November.

Road Directions

From the Devon Expressway (A38) take A384 to Totnes, turn right signed Kingsbridge A381. I mile after The Mounts at roundabout turn right follow Plymouth signs through Churchstow, at Bantham Cross follow Bantham signs 2 1/2 miles. Situated behind the Sloop Inn.
