There is nothing more magical at Christmas than taking your little ones to see Santa.  As their eyes light up seeing Father Christmas’s grotto, presents and reindeer, it’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit. Santa appears at several places in the lead up to Christmas across South Devon, so there are plenty of opportunities to see him at one of these family friendly Christmas events.

Santa's Grotto at House of Marbles 19th November– 22nd December

Visit Father Christmas in his Grotto at the House of Marbles in Bovey Tracey. No booking required and just £6.50 per child to include a free balloon, badge and gift!

Candlelit Dartmouth 25th & 26th November

This unique event sees Father Christmas arrive into Dartmouth by boat handing out gifts to children. Stay to see the procession of lanterns through the town, as well as carol singing, roast chestnuts and general family fun.

Cullompton Christmas Festival 26th November

This Christmas festival runs from 10am until 5pm.  Visit a Christmas Market and Santa's Grotto, take part in craft workshops for children, and enjoy entertainment and family fun. Don’t miss the Christmas light switch-on at 4.30pm.

Donkey Sanctuary Christmas Fair 26th & 27th November

The Donkey Sanctuary's fabulously festive Christmas Fair offers you the opportunity to meet talented local traders, selling wonderfully unique items. You can expect a fantastic mixture of handcrafted items, gifts and delicious edible treats. Santa and his reindeer (donkeys!) will be there all weekend in his Grotto, so bring your little ones to meet them and they will receive a lovely gift (£4 per child to meet Santa and receive a gift. Tickets will be available to purchase on the day on a first come, first serve basis.)

Visit Santa at World of Country Life, Exmouth - December - Various Dates

Pre-book for a traditional Victorian Christmas experience. Jump on board Santa's Christmas Deer Train and hand-feed the herd of deer before heading into the Victorian Christmas street for roast chestnuts and carol singing. Then head down to Santa's cottage workshop for Christmas arts & crafts while you wait your turn to go and meet Santa and get your present.

The Santa Express Train - December – various dates

Join the Santa Express for a journey into a Christmas wonderland. Help to find the Genie, help Aladdin escape the clutches of Jafar and welcome Father Christmas and his helpers on the Santa Express. Those that help Aladdin receive a gift from Santa, a truly magical Christmas event.

Sail with Santa - December - Various dates

Join Stuart Line Cruises in Exmouth and sail away with Santa. On board there is balloon modelling, magic, music, face painting, boat driving lesson, refreshments and of course, a fantastic present from Santa Claus in his specially built on board grotto. Advanced booking is essential as each present is age and gender appropriate to the child.

Nativity Plays & Father Christmas at Pennywell Farm - December - Various Dates

Rekindle the true spirit of Christmas with an authentic manger scene in a cosy barn with all the animals, followed by a visit to Father Christmas and delicious refreshments. The perfect start to your Christmas celebrations. Every child is given the opportunity to dress up and be one of the star performers. After the performance each child will meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto to receive their very special Christmas gift.

Bovey Tracey Christmas Lights Switch on & Street Fayre 3rd December

Be part of Bovey Tracey’s Christmas celebrations and join the countdown for switching on the towns Christmas tree’s lights.  Santa will be arriving on his carnival float before making his way down to his Grotto. Shop for pretty and unique presents from the gift and crafts stands, and sample the wares of the street food vendors, whilst carols are being sung around the tree.  Also to be enjoyed on the night are pony rides, face painting, kiddie fairground rides, hot chestnuts and mulled wine.

Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas - 3rd December

Starting on the Quay, the Farmers Market will kick off the festivities with local produce on offer. An interesting selection of local craft stalls perfect for gifts and, especially for Christmas, there will also be live music and entertainment.  Arriving into a Farmers’ Market in his usual style will be Father Christmas. In previous year’s he’s made his entrance by boat and open-top bus – what could it be this year? After a walk around the town to check on all his little helpers, Santa will make his way to the top of the town and welcome children to visit him on his sleigh.

The Paint Hub - Christmas Party with Visit from Santa - 7th December

Get into the Christmas spirit and join us at the PaintHub in Dawlish Warren, for Christmas Party Painting Fun! There will be a fantastic selection of decorations available to print as well as a visit form Santa, mince pie for the adults and biscuits and squash for the kids.

Father Christmas visit Knightshayes 10th December

Visit Knightshayes to see Father Christmas and take part in some craft activities with one of his elves in his busy workshop. See the beautiful house decorated for a traditional Victorian Christmas, write a letter to the North Pole, stretch your legs with a winter walk and warm yourself up afterwards in the Stables Café.

Christmas at the Model Village - 10th, 11th, 17th - 24th December 

Visit the Model village during December and explore the magical minature christmas characters and models in the gardens. Magical illuminations, and there is even a mini ski slope! On special dates you can meet Santa in the middle of the Model Village.
