The Granite Way between Sourton and Lake - alternative route - accessible from Stage 1 Westbound The Granite Way between Sourton and Lake - accessible from Stage 1 Westbound This section of the Granite Way can be followed between Sourton and Lake (or vice versa) to avoid a field section which contains a number of stiles. The section is interesting in its own right, with good views, and a crossing of Lake Viaduct. The Granite Way is well surfaced, however there is a steep climb/descent below Lake Viaduct, and there are two footbridges to cross. WP1 In Sourton, join the Granite Way just above the Church, and follow the Granite way south for just over 1,600m. Follow the track through two swing gates. The 230m of track between these gates is a Right of Way on Bank Holidays and during August, at other times access is by permission of the landowner. (If these gates are locked please retrace your steps and follow the main Two Castles Trail route). Dot Waypoints P1010231(4).JPG WP2 After crossing Lake Viaduct, turn left down a steep tarmac track to cross a footbridge. Follow the path and turn left through a gate before passing below Lake Viaduct. Follow the track, and cross a footbridge before continuing along the track to the main road.
