From a full day's trek, to a one hour ramble there's something for everyone in South Devon. Not only is walking good for you and the environment, the best part is building up an appetite so you're ready to sample some of the best local produce.
There's over 100 miles of coast path to enjoy in South Devon, from short circular routes to longer more strenuous paths. This path boasts some of the most spectacular landscape, seascape, climate and vegetation to be found anywhere in the UK.
The Dart Valley Trail is a 16 mile estuary circuit split into 2 walks, Dartmouth to Greenway (9miles) or Dittisham to Totnes (8miles). The route is comprehensively waymarked and walking is generally easy with one or two stiff climbs.

Downstream from Aveton Gifford, the river Avon winds through its beautiful and secluded valley to the sea. This fine walk traces its course, and you are rarely out of sight of the river, or its rich birdlife.
Widecombe-in-the-Moor lies in the Widecombe Valley in beautiful Dartmoor. There are fantastic walks here, discover the village or the ancient track ways of Dartmoor - the choice is yours!
18 miles between Haytor on Dartmoor and Teignmouth, the Templar Way traces the route by which granite was exported from Dartmoor. Discover a wide range of scenery, including moorland, woodland, river valleys and fascinating examples of the old tramway and canal.
There is plenty more walking to enjoy in all parts of the area, many of the local towns and villages have heritage trails that bring to life local traditions and history and wildlife trails are abundant.
