Totnes Elizabethan House Museum

A 16thC Tudor merchant's house complete with cobbled courtyard and Elizabethan herb garden. Tudor bedroom, Victorian nursery, kitchen and grocer's shop, archaeology rooms. Charles Babbage 'father of the computer' exhibition. Also study centre - service point of the Devon Record Office.

Last entry at 4.30pm. Audio and Visual Guides available. Outpost for Devon Records office in the local archive (study centre) onsite and open all year round on Wednesdays, Fridays and Thursday afternoons.

Road Directions

Follow street signs to the (preferably long stay) car parks and walk towards the main street. Walk uphill. The museum is just before the East Gate arch on the left hand side and is an unmistakably Tudor building.

Public Transport Directions

By bus alight at The Plains and walk up the main street. The museum is just before tha East Gate arch on the left. From the railway station follow the signs for the town centre. Walk downhill and pass underneath the East Gate Arch. The museum is on the right just beyond and is a typically Tudor building.
