Devon Unveiled: A Tapestry of Tales and Tantalizing Tastes for groups.

in moss and myths. It feels like stepping into a Tolkien realm, minus the orcs.

Devon, nestled snuggly in England's voluptuous southwest, isn’t just a place; it's an emotion, an affair I’ve been ensnared in since a lascivious summer in my reckless youth. It boasts of moors that sprawl lazily like a cat in the afternoon sun, and clandestine coves that could've been the backdrops of Daphne du Maurier's novels.

An honest Devon experience isn't complete without indulging in its gastronomy. The Devonshire cream tea, a rapturous blend of clotted cream, rich jam, and warm scones, is akin to a soft peck on a first date: unexpected but instantly familiar. And oh, the pasties! A sumptuous affair of the crust, meat, and tradition.

You can't speak of Devon without the seductive whisper of Clovelly’s tales, where cobbled streets aren’t just stones but a mosaic of stories — tales of love, loss, and a smuggler or two. And then there's Wistman’s Wood, an old soul where ancient oaks intertwine in a sylvan embrace, drenched River Dart

Dip into the local life — immerse yourself in the fiery spectacle of tar barrel-carrying in Ottery St. Mary. It's not just a tradition; it's an adrenaline-infused ballet danced to the tunes of ancestral drums. Devon, with its lore and landscapes, isn't merely a destination but a sonnet penned by time. Venture, explore, get lost, for in Devon, lost is where the stories begin.

As it is a wonderfully diverse county, Devon has many different areas to explore, with long beaches of golden sands, 13

Dartmoor is the place to be. To find out more and to understand what makes Dartmoor tick, check out their archaeology page. Dartmoor is home to all manner of wildlife, from Dartmoor ponies wandering the moor, to the rare marsh Fritillary Butterfly. If birds, bees and beasts draw your interest, look at their Nature page.

So, when visiting Dartmoor why not take some time to journey into the past and witness for yourself the many mysterious places of the moor? ey have listed 15 of the locations here and on their Dartmoor Myths & Legends Trail to make it easier for you on their Myths & Legends page.

Dartmoor truly has something for everyone — nature lovers will find an unrivalled choice of walks and cycle routes, and countryside to explore plus wildlife to try and spot. Folklore & Legends. For centuries the Dartmoor folklore and legends have encompassed tales of pixies, ghosts, witchcra, weird happenings and a host of deep-seated beliefs. ese have been passed down through the generations via fireside stories, books, and local tradition all of which have played their part in keeping the tales alive today.
