It's a quaint village with thatched houses and a historic manor house close to Torquay in the English Riviera. Cockington stands as a timeless treasure steeped in history, offering visitors a glimpse into England's rich cultural heritage. History

It's thought that the village was founded around 2,500 years ago during the Iron Age with evidence of two hill forts on either side of Cockington valley. One fascinating aspect of Cockington Village's history is its association with the Cary family, who played a significant role in shaping the area's landscape and character. The Cary family, prominent landowners in Devon, acquired Cockington Manor in the late 14th century and held it for several centuries. During the Elizabethan era, the Carys transformed Cockington Manor into an impressive Elizabethan mansion, reflecting their wealth and status. The manor became a center of local power and influence, with the Carys overseeing the management of the estate and the surrounding lands.Throughout the centuries, Cockington has evolved from a small agricultural community to a beloved tourist destination renowned for its preservation of traditional English architecture and culture.

Visitors to Cockington Village are treated to a myriad of attractions and activities that showcase its rich heritage and natural beauty. Stroll along the cobbled streets lined with thatched-roof cottages, explore the lush countryside trails, or take a leisurely amble through the sprawling Cockington Country Park. Savour traditional Devonshire cream teas complete with freshly baked scones, clotted cream, and strawberry jam, or sample hearty pub classics like fish and chips or pie.
