South Devon Beaches

Choose from mile after mile of stunning beaches and secluded coves. The following are some of our best beaches.

Bantham

A fine sandy beach in an AONB at the mouth of the River Avon.

Bigbury-on-sea

A stunning sandy beach joined by causeway to Burgh Island.

Blackpool Sands

A privately owned crescent of coarse golden sand set in a sheltered bay.

Bovisand

A sheltered bay of yellow sand with cliffs either side.

Challaborough

A sheltered cove with a fine sandy beach.

Coryton Cove

Rock pools to explore, occaisional sighting of dolphins with fine sandy beaches.

Dawlish Town Beach

Take a boat trip around the bay and spot thedolphins or catch a mackerel for tea off the breakwater.

Dawlish Warren Beach

Pride's itself as one of South Devon's top family beaches.

East Portlemouth

Opposite Salcombe on the eastern side is a long sandy stretch skirting round the coast.

Hope Cove

A sheltered sandy beach which is popular with families.

Mill Bay

A privately owned beach popular with families because of safe bathing conditions.

Mothecombe Estuary and Wonwell Beach

Wide sand and rocky beaches on either side of the estuary of the river Erme.

Ness Cove

Salcombe North Sands

Crouched between two headlands, North Sands isrural in character yet convientiently close to Salcombe.

Salcombe South Sands

A fine sandy beach, accessible by road, footpath and passenger ferry from Salcombe.

Shaldon Beach

Gently shelves towards the estuary mouth viewsover Teignmouth and towards Dartmoor.

Slapton Sands and Torcross

Two halves of a three mile sand and shingle bar stretching between Strete and Torcross.

Soar Mill Cove

Strete Gate

Teignmouth River Beach

Watch the Sun set over the River Teign on this charming beach.

Teignmouth Town Beach

A long sandy stretch from the mouth River Teign east towards Dawlish.

Thurlestone and South Milton

Plenty of rock pools to explore at low tide, this beach is owned by National Trust in an AONB.

Wembury

An interesting beach not short of ways to keep you entertained.
