Quality Grading Explained

Quality Assurance

We only accept accommodation which has been inspected - either by a national or local assessment scheme. If you are booking accommodation through a self catering agency, the property will have been inspected by the agency but may not have been inspected by an independent body.

aa and enjoy england logosNational Quality Assessment Schemes

Visit Britain/Enjoy England and the AA grade establishments offering accommodation under a set of common quality standards agreed by the AA and the UK tourist authorities: VisitBritain, VisitScotland and Wales Tourist Board.

The aim is to make accommodation standards easy to understand and to give you confidence that establishments meet the standard you expect. So, you can make your booking, relax and know you will enjoy a wonderful break.

These descriptions apply to all types of accommodation. Use them as a general guide to what you can expect.
1 star: Simple, practical, no frills.
2 star: Well presented and well run.
3 star: Good level of quality and comfort.
4 star: Excellent standard throughout.
5 star: Exceptional with a degree of luxury.

Local Inspection Schemes

DHTADNPSeveral local inspection schemes also operate in South Devon. All locally inspected accommodation will at least match the standard of the National Scheme One Star; it might well be higher. Each property is assessed for individuality, charm and overall ambience.

The Visit Britain National Accessible Scheme

The Visit Britain National Accessible Scheme for serviced and self catering accommodation has recently been reviewed. When you see one of the symbols you can be sure that the accommodation has been thoroughly assessed against demanding criteria. You may need to check specific requirements at the time of booking.
