Old Walls Vineyard is situated on steeply sloping south facing land overlooking the village of Bishopsteignton and the river Teign. The site is a perfect setting for a vineyard. There is evidence of a vineyard here dating back to Roman times. We started to prepare the land in January 2002 and have been planting and developing the vineyard to its present state. We have planted a good selection of grape varieties, the best known being the Pinot Noir early variety which is very much at home in the English climate.
Our wines will be on sale at Old Walls Vineyard shop & winery early in the new year. We look forward to welcoming you and offering you the chance to taste our delicious wines.
To our delight the wine produced from our first harvest in 2004 has been awarded ‘English Quality Wine’ status.
2004 Red - The depth of colour is striking and the nose is extraordinary, smoky and full of soft red fruits such as raspberries and strawberries.
2004 White - The pale straw colour of the white belies the spicy, clean, lightly floral but above all fruit-driven flavours that just roll on and on.
The red, white and sparkling wines from our highly sucessful 2005 harvest have been made in our own winery which was completed in the autumn of 2005.
