Quality & Accessibility
Whether you’re booking a hotel, a holiday cottage, a campsite in South Devon, there are certain standards that you expect from your accommodation provider. In order to give visitors an idea of what to expect from their stay in South Devon, standards of quality and accessibility have been drawn up by various organisations that should make planning your perfect break much easier.
The good news for the public is that responsible owners have increased competition between them to attract visitors and standards of quality and accessibility have increased to new levels of excellence as a result.
The Criteria
The AA and Visit Britain have agreed certain standards of quality and accessibility that must be adhered to for an establishment to achieve a grading of any kind. These grades are awarded as stars and offer an at-a-glance assessment of quality and accessibility. They range from one to five stars, with one being acceptable and five being outstanding:
One star: Simple and practical, but with no frills
Two stars: Well-presented and well run
Three stars: Good standards of quality and comfort
Four stars: Excellent standards throughout
Five stars: Exceptional, with a touch of luxury
Accessibility
Visitors with accessibility and mobility requirements need to know that establishments offering accommodation cater fully for their needs. The National Accessibility Scheme gives gradings similar to those for quality, allowing guests to decide quickly if the accommodation is suitable for them.
