ASTONISHING LINE-UP FOR THIS YEAR’S FESTIVAL!
This is the eleventh year for the Dart Music Festival, now a well established event in the calendar. From its inception the ethos of the Festival has been to provide music to suit all tastes and to have unticketed events wherever feasible to ensure the majority of music is accessible to the majority of visitors. Despite this year’s top line-up this policy is continuing this year. Of course some events have to be ticketed but the Festival, which receives no grants and is run professionally by a voluntary Committee, relies mainly for its funding on donations made to the official collectors who circulate during performances. All contributions as well as programme and merchandise sales go directly to the supporting the cost of the Festival.
This year during the three days of the Festival over eighty events will be taking place in a variety of venues across this ancient town will be jazz, choral, acoustic guitar, blues, opera, big bands, organ recitals, orchestral and a string quartet.
To mention but a few:
Snake Davis – among the top Saxophonists in Britain. Snake will also be giving a (free – retiring collection only) masterclass.
The Eberle String Quartet – Superb musicians playing together since 1993, in Britain and on the continent, well known for the rapport they establish with their audiences - chamber playing of the highest order (Ticketed event)
Amy Carson – one of the stars of Kenneth Branagh’s 2007 of The Magic Flute – will be singing with Devon Baroque, acknowledged as the South West's leading Baroque Orchestra, with a reputation for exuberant and polished performances of music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries (ticketed event)
