With the summer holidays in full swing and so much going on there is no better time to visit South Devon. As well as amazing beaches and wonderful attractions to visit there are some great events taking place. We’ve highlighted a few below to give you an idea of what fun there is to be had.

Bovey Tracey Carnival Procession, 1st August

Follow the Bovey Tracey Carnival Procession as it makes its way through the town starting from East Street at 6pm.

Shaldon Water Carnival, 1st August

Across from the town of Teignmouth on the expansive and tranquil Teign Estuary is the picturesque village of Shaldon. Each year the village holds its Water Carnival, a day of fun and excitement on and around the water.

Powderham Castle – Knights and Dragons, 2nd – 7th August

A magical tale of knights, dragons, witches and wizards. Have you the courage (and flame-resistant pants) to help Sir Drew P Drawers with his quest? If so, then join this original medieval fairy tale written by Pocketwatch Theatre.

Rockfish and GWR Crab Festival, 2nd August

Rockfish Crab Festival hosted by Mitch Tonks & Angela Hartnett is a fantastic day with a party atmosphere, great South Devon crab to enjoy and a lot of fun to be had.

Dartmouth Shakespeare Week, 4th – 8th August

Enjoy Shakespeare's wonderfully anarchic comedy 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' as you’ve never seen it before, in modern dress.

Dawlish Carnival Week, 8th – 15th August

Carnival week in Dawlish is a seven-day action packed event with a programme that’ll ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Superheroes Day at Crealy, 19th August

Superman, Batman and Captain America will fly into Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park as part of Superheroes Day, ready to excite families with their super powers and special strength. Why not dress as your favourite Superhero and show off your extraordinary abilities as well!

Dawlish Air Show, 22nd August

Dawlish with its glorious bay and a dramatic coastline, is the perfect setting for the spectacle that is, "Dawlish Carnival Air Show". As well as the thrilling air displays this event also offers events and attractions on the ground

Dartmouth Regatta, 27th – 29th August

The Regatta is based around a programme of rowing and sailing events, but also incorporates a busy programme of activities including air displays, fireworks, a large fair, and many other smaller events that happen in and around the town centre.

‘Rails and Ales’ Gala at the South Devon Railway, 28th – 31st August

This coming August bank holiday weekend sees the scenic South Devon Railway (SDR) once more host its now well-established, 21st annual ‘Rails and Ales’ gala. Popular with both railway enthusiasts and fans of real ale and traditional cider alike.

The Classic Motorshow, 30th August

Displays of vintage & classic cars also modern from 1990 and classic/vintage motorcycles. Trade stands, food fayre, cream teas.
