Theatres & Cinemas

A trip to a theatre or cinema is always a family favourite at home, so why not catch that screening of the film you're desperate to see or find an alternative play whilst you are visiting. Going to see a play at a theatre in South Devon or movie is the perfect treat for the family or a great night out with friends, and certainly is an excellent idea when the weather isn’t quite as good as hoped for or to add to your rainy day itinerary!

With cinemas old and new, there is always a great array of films and movies to see whilst you are holidaying. Most of the large towns and cities in the region offer your standard multiplex cinema chains with the opportunity to view the latest releases and blockbuster movies. A visit to a cinema in South Devon is easy to tie in with other activities such as shopping at one of the main cities.

In some of the more rural towns or villages, you can find some lovely quaint cinemas screening much more obscure titles and independent films; and sometimes offering live viewings from other prominent theatres, such as the Royal Opera House. 

South Devon is also home to many wonderful theatres offering fantastic productions of well known plays, concerts and comedy shows. Once again, in the cities and towns you will find much larger auditoriums presenting better known performances, while the smaller theatres sprinkled throughout the region show more inventive productions. Not to be out done, some of the amateur groups in South Devon put on some fabulous shows too and make for a wonderful evening out.
