South Devon is packed with events all year round, offering something for everyone whatever the season. From coastal towns to countryside villages, there’s always something happening nearby to add something extra to your visit.
Throughout the year, the region hosts a wide variety of festivals, markets, performances and community celebrations. Food lovers can enjoy seafood festivals, farmers’ markets and street food events, while music fans will find everything from folk and jazz to rock and classical concerts. Art trails, craft fairs and open studios provide a chance to explore local creativity, while history enthusiasts can enjoy reenactments, heritage open days and talks at historic sites.
Summer is a particularly busy time, with carnivals, classic car shows, air displays and regattas taking place along the coast. Many towns and villages hold long-standing traditional events, often featuring live entertainment, local food and drink, children’s activities and fireworks. During the school holidays, you’ll find plenty of family-friendly activities too – from outdoor theatre and storytelling to nature trails and themed workshops.
As the seasons change, so does the events calendar. Autumn brings harvest festivals and lantern parades, while winter features Christmas markets, light switch-ons and festive fairs. In spring, gardens open to the public, Easter egg hunts pop up across the region, and the first of the year’s music and walking festivals begin.
Use the search tools and categories on this page to find out what’s happening during your stay. Whether you're planning in advance or looking for something to do today, you’ll find plenty to choose from.
