Devon is home to five Michelin starred restaurants in total and three of them are here in South Devon! Considered to be one of the top accolades for a restaurant, chefs up and down the country strive to be awarded with a prestigious Michelin Star so it’s really quite fantastic that this beautiful county boasts five.

Lympstone Manor

Run by the famous chef, Michael Caines MBE, Lympstone Manor  in Exmouth is a Grade II listed Georgian manor house set on the Exe Estuary. Lunch and dinner are available in the main restaurant at Lympstone Manor, as well as the option of tasting and à la carte menus. Michael Caines uses the rich estuary and amazing produce available in the South West to create seasonal and elegant dishes with wines that match perfectly. Gidleigh Park

A sumptuous country house hotel, Gidleigh Park is set in the gorgeous rural landscape of Dartmoor National Park, close to the town of Chagford. For those wishing to dine at Gidleigh Park, an intimate restaurant serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with à la carte and tasting menus available. The seasonal menus in a relaxed setting provide a wonderful experience and the magnificent grounds just add to the lavish establishment. 

The Elephant

Located in Torquay on the aptly named English Riviera, The Elephant is run by chef proprietor Simon Hulstone alongside his wife. An informal restaurant, The Elephant has maintained its Michelin star for 13 years after being the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded one. With a focus on local produce, menus are regularly changing and the seaside location is mirrored in their selection of dishes.
