If you’re planning a summer visit to Dartmouth, make sure Saturday 5th July is marked in your diary. The ever-popular Dart Art Day returns to Royal Avenue Gardens from 10am to 4pm, offering a fantastic day out in one of South Devon’s most picturesque towns – all while raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.
This vibrant event brings together 22 talented artists and local makers, all showcasing their beautiful handmade arts and crafts in gazebos dotted around the gardens. From paintings and jewellery to ceramics and textiles, there’s something unique and special to discover at every stall – perfect if you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift or a memento of your time in Devon.
As well as the arts and crafts, Dart Art Day also features a programme of live musical performances, creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages to enjoy. And when it’s time for a break, you’ll be spoilt for choice with homemade cakes, sandwiches, and cream teas available throughout the day – all lovingly prepared by CHSW volunteers and supporters.
More than just a fun day out, Dart Art Day is an important fundraising event in support of Children’s Hospice South West, helping to provide vital care and support to over 550 families across the region who have children with life-limiting conditions. In 2024, the event raised over £4,000, and organisers are hoping to raise even more this year with the help of locals and visitors alike.
The event is organised by the CHSW Dartmouth & District Friends Group, who meet monthly to plan community events and raise awareness for the charity’s incredible work. If you’d like to get involved, offer your time, or simply find out more, you can contact Sue at tweed833@btinternet.com or on 07955 197721.
Whether you're local to South Devon or visiting for a summer holiday, Dart Art Day is a lovely way to spend a Saturday – enjoying art, music and great food while supporting an amazing cause.
