Watching artists work, buying crafts from the maker or getting hands on and arty yourself, there are many amazing ways to enjoy arts and crafts in South Devon and many wonderful events scheduled right across the county.

Here are some of the numerous arts and craft festivals and events taking place in Devon during 2020.

Dartmouth Galleries Spring Exhibitions, Dartmouth (22nd May – 12th June)

Dartmouth Galleries Spring Exhibitions start on the 22nd May with Galleries Night from 6-9pm. Follow the trail map and visit many of the towns galleries as they launch new exhibitions with work from new and established artists. The exhibitions continue for up to 3 weeks.

Dartmouth Art & Craft Weekend, Dartmouth (27th – 28th June)

The 17th annual Dartmouth Art & Craft Weekend in aid of Children's Hospice South West is an interesting and fun weekend where you can watch, talk to and buy from many artists and craft workers who are displaying their talents.

Journeys: Mayflower 400, Dartmouth (4th July – 23rd August)

Journeys: Mayflower 400 is a collection of artistic work inspired by the journey taken by the Mayflower 400 years ago. With 40 artists involved in the project, each will produce six editioned prints which will be on display as part of this exciting project. Each artist will use their own interpretation on the theme 'Journeys', some are looking at social issues as well as the historic elements of this subject. This joint new body of work will be exhibited in both the UK and USA during 2020.

Ocean Artists Designers Makers Spring Market, Plymouth (11th-12th July)

Ocean Artists Designers Makers Spring Market heralds the beginning of a new creative season in Plymouth. Offering hand-made craft, intriguing art and sublime design along with seasonal delights and creative workshops, what better way to enjoy the spring holiday than a trip to Ocean Artists Designers Makers Spring Market and the popular Royal William Yard.

Dartmouth Art Society Summer Exhibition, Dartmouth (2nd – 4th August)

At Dartmouth Art Society Summer Exhibition you can purchase original pictures and there is also a special section “Climate Change”. The event is being held in the Dartmouth Masonic Hall, Lower Street and is free to attend.

Mayflower Public Art Installation, Plymouth (1st – 30th September) 

A monumental scale public art installation will appear in Plymouth to mark Mayflower 400.

Craft FestivalBovey Tracey (11th – 13th September)

The multi award winning Craft Festival takes place in the idyllic setting of Mill Marsh Park, Bovey Tracey. At the three day festival meet over 200 of the finest makers selling their work, attend workshops and demonstrations that will enhance your creativity.

Devon Open Studios, Devon (12th – 27th September)

Devon Open Studios is an exceptional chance for the public to enjoy art at its origin. Resident artists and artisans across Devon open their studios to sell their individual artworks to the public during September. This free event features work by over 200 artists in venues across the county of Devon.

Thelma Hulbert Gallery Exhibitions, Honiton (All Year Round)

In the beautiful East Devon town of Honiton is the award-winning public art gallery, Thelma Hulbert Gallery. The gallery occupies an attractive, Grade II-listed, town house which is the former home and studio of the artist Thelma Hulbert. Throughout the year the gallery features an acclaimed programme of contemporary art exhibitions by South West artists as well as major national touring exhibitions.
