The Abbot’s Way Café has officially opened its doors, offering a welcoming new space to relax, refuel and soak up the heritage of one of Devon’s most iconic landscapes.

Located at Buckfast Abbey, this brand-new café takes its name from the historic Abbot’s Way — a well-known walking route that crosses the heart of Dartmoor.

The café celebrates the spirit of the moor, bringing together great coffee, a peaceful setting and a strong sense of place. Inside, the walls are adorned with those who have walked the Abbot’s Way over the years, including monks and members of the Abbey community — a unique and meaningful tribute to the route’s rich history.

Open daily from 10am to 4pm, The Abbot’s Way Café is ideally placed for those visiting Buckfast Abbey or heading out onto Dartmoor.

To mark the opening, the café was blessed by Abbot David Charlesworth OSB — a moment that reflects the deep connection between the café, the Abbey and the historic Abbot’s Way route.

Adding to the celebrations, visitors on opening day were also treated to a special book signing with author Nick Pannell. His book, The Real Abbot’s Way, delves into the fascinating story behind the trail, offering insight into its history and significance.
