For over a decade, Artizan’s Summer Open has been a reliable staple of the local arts scene. This year, however, the gallery has reimagined the event with a tightly focused, evocative new direction. Peninsula: The South-West Open 2026 is a dedicated love letter to the landscapes, heritage, and legendary light of the West Country.

A Journey Through the Landscape and Craft

The South West peninsula is a region defined by dramatic contrasts- where ancient geological cliffs meet rolling moors, and deep-rooted agricultural history blends with a modern, thriving creative economy. This distinct, somewhat isolated geography has long made it a sanctuary for artists. Peninsula captures that exact spirit, bringing together 76 artists working across everything from traditional oils, fine ceramics, and metalwork to textiles, glass, and printmaking.

Whether you are a dedicated art enthusiast or simply looking for an inspiring way to spend a quiet afternoon on the coast, the exhibition is a thoughtful, visual journey through what makes the South West so enduringly captivating.
