Looking for something to do this October half-term? Pecorama is opening its doors for six special days, giving families and railway enthusiasts the chance to enjoy a day out in the East Devon countryside.

On 20th, 21st and 22nd October, and again on 27th, 28th and 29th October 2026, visitors can enjoy the Beer Heights Light Railway, explore the Pecorama Gardens, discover detailed model railway layouts and browse the Harburn Hobbies Model Shop, all from 10am to 4pm.

Set above the picturesque village of Beer, Pecorama makes an ideal half-term day out, combining the excitement of a miniature railway with gardens, model railways, coastal views and somewhere to stop for a hot drink and snack.

One of the highlights is the Beer Heights Light Railway, where you can climb aboard for a journey through the grounds. The railway winds its way through the gardens and woodland, with views across the surrounding countryside and towards the coast along the way. Sit back, enjoy the journey and take in the scenery as you travel around the grounds.

Back in the grounds, take time to explore the Pecorama Gardens at your own pace. Wander along the paths, discover the landscaped gardens and see what you can find as you make your way around. There are plenty of places to pause along the way, making it easy to enjoy the gardens at a leisurely pace.

And if the October weather has a little chill to it, there’s always time to warm up with a hot drink and a snack. A well-earned break gives visitors the chance to relax before continuing their day, while enjoying the surroundings and taking in the views.

For railway enthusiasts, the PECO Model Railway Exhibition offers a very different kind of railway experience. With detailed layouts in a variety of scales, there is plenty to discover, from carefully recreated landscapes to intricate railway scenes. It is just as appealing to families discovering model railways for the first time as it is to experienced enthusiasts.

The Harburn Hobbies Model Shop is also open during the October dates, giving visitors the chance to browse an extensive range of model railway products, from track and rolling stock to scenery, buildings and accessories.

With several different things to see and do, the October opening dates offer plenty of opportunity to make a full day of your visit. Take a ride on the railway, explore the gardens, discover the model railway exhibition, browse the shop and take some time out with a drink and snack along the way.
