There are a huge variety of animal attractions in South Devon to enjoy – from vast zoos and magical aquariums, to petting farms and educational wildlife centres. The area boasts a wonderful and diverse selection of fun activities to enjoy whilst also learning about the habitat and life of some beautiful animals and wildlife.
Kids of all ages will love to visit the farm animals where you can get involved and hands on; pet the adorable miniature pigs, feed the sheep and donkeys and hold the cute rabbits or wild birds, plus everyone will love getting up close to these gorgeous animals.
South Devon has designated farms and animal specific attractions for you to visit such as sanctuaries and riding stables, as well as other attractions which include and incorporate animal experiences, such as shopping centres and theme parks. Whether you fancy enjoying a whole day out which focuses solely on animals, or want to tie it in with another trip that you have planned – there are plenty of options for all.
There are several great zoos in South Devon too – where you can get up close to a wide range of rare worldwide animals – and even some more local ones too. From majestic rhinos to inquisitive meerkats, the zoos in South Devon will allow an exciting and informative trip whatever your age!
The region is home also to a couple of fascinating aquariums, one of which is also a coastal zoo, where penguins are the star of the show! Both of these make for a great day out for the family.
Most zoos and animal attractions in South Devon will also have indoor play areas and picnic areas so you can really make a full day of it whatever the weather.
