ALL SAINTS FLOWER SHOW

All Saints is also Brixham's Fisherman's church.

The tower of the church measures 100 ft from the bottom to the top, and can't only be seen when entering Brixham, but also from the harbour, where the fish is landed by the fishermen at the quay. The tower built in 1907 is an iconic land and sea mark. With the small cottages surrounding the church, All Saints looks even more imposing, and it is worth a walk through the small walkways. The church itself was built in 1816 and is the largest church in Brixham.

All Saints is an integral part of Brixham's history and beyond, with the poet, and hymn writer, Francis Henry Lyte the first Reverend of All Saints Church famous for the hymn "abide with me" translated the whole world over and used on many occasions. He wrote over 200 hymns.

After 28 years it is time to celebrate and commemorate the fishing community we have in Brixham with a flower festival at All Saints. The theme will be "Weddings and Elegance" with memories of Brixham people of past and present, and we hope even from over the border (Cornwall). The fishing team have provided and hung the netting from the rafters at All Saints, which is in keeping with the profile of a Fisherman's church. We will have a celebration and get together on the Saturday morning with music, cakes, coffee, tombola, raffle, plant sale, and home cooked lunches afterwards for a reasonable price.

It would have been hard to believe that Reverend Lyte was actually frequently joining the fishermen on their boats and preached about Galilee.

This year we will do it again with the emphasis on Elegance. The church will be brimming with flowers, wedding costumes, and memories special to all of us.

We have thought of the children, they have a play area, in, and outside the church, free drinks, biscuits, hygienic and spacious baby facilities.

For the disabled we have parking, a lift and disabled toilets. We will have clock tower visits at certain times of the day.

We are looking forward to see you at All Saints in August.
