Calling Lovers, Lotharios and losers: Cabaret Voltaire has much pleasure in announcing its annual Valentines’ Ball, with a vintage swing theme. With live music, DJs, cabaret, walkabout and a vintage fancy dress theme, the ball has become the most imaginative alternative to Valentine’s cliches.
The evening will commence with swing dancing lessons, a perfect opportunity to impress potential suitors.
The Hot Tin Roofs, Bristol’s purveyors of sizzlin’, sassy and swingin’ vintage tunes. Like the love child of Mae West and Little Richard, The Hot Tin Roofs mix Rhythm ‘n’ Blues with a significant splash of swing.
Warming up is Delta 88, Devon’s upbeat rockabilly trio, who recently signed to Western Star Records, securing them appearances around the UK and USA.
Cabaret comes from Abigail Collins the “Terrific skills-based character comedian” (Time Out).
DJs Mr Puckey and Louie Louie will be playing the best in vintage and swing. Perhaps best known locally for his barnstorming vintage club night ‘Blow your wig!’ DJ Louie Louie’s specialism in 50s and 60s tunes has seen him move the crowd at festivals such as Beautiful Days, Port Elliot, and as resident DJ at Glastonbury’s Shangri La.
If that’s not enough, there’s walkabout theatre and a photo booth.
