After last year's difficult decision by the Torbay Old Wheels Club not to hold their annual Classic Car Show on Paignton Green as part of the Torbay Community Carnival, we are happy to let readers know we are once again working with Torbay Council and the Carnival Committee for this year's Riviera Classic Car Show to go ahead on 27th July.
The car show was first held by Torbay Old Wheels Club in 1994 and forms an important part of Carnival week, with all profits being donated to local charities. In 2023 the club was able to donate £7000 to the Carnival Committee, bringing the running total donated over the years to £70,000, almost half of this being raised since 2016.
Regular exhibitors might notice there have been some changes to those of previous years. Safety is always a prime concern, so we have streamlined the show to manage with a smaller team of volunteers. We already have an interesting line up of entries, with vehicles dating from 1937 to 2000 plus a few more modern classics. Every exhibitor will receive a small memento of the day and we are committed to making sure all participants have a highly enjoyable day overall on Paignton seafront.
For anyone wishing to exhibit their car, there are still a few spaces available and, to avoid disappointment, should be booked as soon as possible, using the form available for download on the website www.towc.club. Please do not apply by any other means as we are aware there have been multiple scam offers of tickets for sale on social media.
For anyone wishing to join the Torbay Old Wheels Club, this can also be done via the website and all members displaying within the members area enter the show free of charge.
The show opens to pedestrian visitors from 10am and closes at 4.30pm. Entry is by donation of £3.00 for adults and accompanied children under 12 are admitted for free.
