To help you find your prefect day out we’ve put together an overview of some of the great events taking place in South Devon this August Bank holiday.

Nutty’s Toy Factory, 25th – 31st August, Woodlands Family Theme Park

Woodlands Super Hero, Nutty the squirrel is bringing you the most amazing experience this summer. This adventure is a must for the whole family!
From July 25th visit Nutty’s Toy Factory and magical mansion and discover magic around every breathtaking corner.

Dartmouth Regatta, 27th – 29th August

The Regatta is based around a programme of rowing and sailing events, but also incorporates a busy programme of activities including air displays, fireworks, a large fair, and many other smaller events that happen in and around the town centre.

Rails and Ales Gala at the South Devon Railway, 28th – 31st August

This coming August bank holiday weekend sees the scenic South Devon Railway (SDR) once more host its now well-established, 21st annual ‘Rails and Ales’ gala. Popular with both railway enthusiasts and fans of real ale and traditional cider alike, the four-day event features a mix of classic trains, including both steam and heritage diesel locomotives, plus an impressive drink festival serving a big range of traditional ales and ciders.

Exeter Powderham Castle: Outside Cinema, 28th – 30th August

Powderham Castle will be the site of a special outdoor cinema this summer. Highlights from the screened programme at Powderham, in Kenton, near Exeter, being shown between August 28 and 30, include Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia and Top Gun.

Meet BBC’s Nick Baker at Penny Farm, 29th August

Fresh from the new series of ‘Springwatch’ BBC’s Nick Baker will be at Pennywell giving talks and pond dipping demonstrations so that you can find out more about the amazing collection of wildlife hidden in the ponds at Pennywell.

Teignmouth Farmers’ Market, 29th August

Meet the farmers' who work hard to bring the fruits of their labour to the market. Find great food and drink from within 30 miles of Teignmouth. A fun way to support local, a healthy way to support the community. Markets take place every last Saturday of the month.

Classic Motorshow, 30th August

The Classic Motorshow at Ugbrooke House will include a display of vintage & classic cars, modern vehicles from the 1990 and classic/vintage motorcycles. Trade stands, food fayre, cream teas in the Orangery and tours of the house at £4.00, helicopter rides, parade of vehicles, children’s amusements and Birds of Prey display will also be available.

Pirates at Dartmouth, Dartmouth Castle, 31st August

Arr me hearties! Dartmouth Castle is under attack from a fearsome bunch of pirates. Hear the bang of muskets and see history brought to life as the pirates show off their weapons and tell fantastical tales of shameless skulduggery. Lily-livered-landlubbers beware!
