May Bank Holiday and Half Term is the perfect time to visit South Devon and enjoy the great range of events on offer. May is a great time of year for Food and Drink and Music Festivals, you’ll find some of the main ones below along with details of other events taking place throughout the region.

Totnes: Party in Town; 27th – 28th May 

Party in the Town celebrates the panoramic local music scene and vibrant cultural life that the community of Totnes and its surrounding areas has to offer. The event includes free music and entertainment in venues and spaces throughout Totnes, from 6.30-9.50pm. It will be completely accessible, and will include music of all genres.

All Inclusive Half Term Fun at Becky Falls! 28th May – 5th June

Every day during the school holidays there's a free prize for children completing the "find the stamps" letterboxing trail and there are lots of hands-on animal activities including twice-daily animal feeding sessions, animal encounter shows and a Meet the Meerkats keeper talk.

Torquay’s Dinosaur World 6th Birthday Celebration Week; 28th May – 5th June

On Saturday 28th May Torquay’s Dinosaur World will have been open for 6 years, and to mark this occasion we are holding a week of celebrations. So visit Toby T-Rex, Tallulah Triceratops and all their friends to have lots and lots of fun and help them celebrate their 6th Birthday. There’s even a Dinosaur Birthday Card Competition and a fun Birthday Quiz.

Dinosaur Fossil Hunt: Paignton Beach; 29th May

As an extra special treat for all dinosaur fans Torquay’s Dinosaur World are holding a FREE Dinosaur Fossil Hunt on the beach on Sunday 24th May.  Explorers can dig in the sand to find amazing dinosaur fossils including skulls, teeth, claws and bones. This event is weather dependent so please check our Facebook page for updates.

Cpt'n Blackheart on Board! 30th May – 3rd June

Cpt'n Blackheart o' Brixham be on board the Golden Hind to share his knowledge of Drake and entertain with his pirate stories, as well as Walk the Plank, Spot the Skulls and Sid's Stamps activities.

Powderham Castle – Wonderland; 30th May – 5th June

Join the Mad Hatter for tea party mayhem. Themed sessions take place at specified times. Sessions run for approximately 45 to 60 minutes and are aimed for children between 5 -11yrs (and adults) of all ages.

Sharpham at Riverford for English Wine Week; 31st May

Riverford Field Kitchen are celebrating English Wine Week by hosting a supper with our local vineyard and producer Sharpham Wines. Enjoy Devon fizz on arrival followed by a three course supper paired with Sharpham white, red & rose wines.

Occombe Beer Festival 2016; 3rd – 4th June

Sample from a superb menu of Westcountry beers at Occombe's annual beer festival, plus local ciders, perry and a Pimms bar. Live bands perform throughout the festival. Tickets on sale now. No under-18s are permitted entry to Occombe Beer Festival.

Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival; 3rd – 5th June

This three day food and music extravaganza celebrates the eclectic mix of tastes and sounds that originate from Kingsbridge and the surrounding area.

Lemonfest; 4th June

LEMONFEST is a one-day music festival taking place in the heart of Devon at Newton Abbot’s Racecourse every summer, with live music and DJ’s across six stages. Now moving into their seventh year, LEMONFEST has established itself as South Devon’s premier live music event.

Classic Car Motor Show; 4th June

The one day of the year when the pedestriansed centre of Newton Abbot will be filled with vehicles! St Leonards Tower will be open for guided tours on the day.

Powderham Castle – Dawlish Horse Show; 5th June
