Mother's Day in South Devon

Mums deserve to be treated on Mother’s Day and we have a great range of events, attractions and things to do which will allow you to do just that. From yummy lunches to exciting days out and traditional Devonshire cream teas, these are just some of the wonderful Mother’s Day events which can be found across South Devon. 

Meet the New Mums at World of Country Life, Exmouth (27th March) 

World of Country Life have reopened for the season which can only mean one thing – new babies and new mums! Spend the day immersed in farm life, meeting all the baby pigmy goats and lambs, and take part in their full programme of daily activities. World of Country Life also have a fun crafts session and special offers in Farmer Lee’s Food Barn too! 

Take a Tram Ride with Seaton Tram, Seaton (27th March) 

Seaton Tramway is a fun day out for the whole family, and for Mother’s Day this year, mums travel free with an accompanying child ticket on their standard service. The tram operates between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton along the stunning Axe Valley in East Devon. Seaton Tramway are also offering their excellent Birdwatching Tram tours on the 26th March if mum is a bit of a bird enthusiast, or you could try out their exciting Driver’s Eye Experience on Mother’s Day. This course is very hands-on and will give you the chance to enjoy driving the trams! You could also treat mum to a tasty Sunday roast, or a yummy cream tea at their Tramstop Café! 

Mother’s Day Cream Tea Cruise, Stuart Line Cruises, Exmouth (27th March) 

You could celebrate this special day with your mothers, grandmothers, aunties or friends by spending the day with Stuart Line Cruises. They are offering delicious Devon cream teas with this special Mother’s Day deal, with lots of cream and jam as you sail across the River Exe. Spend some quality time with the important women in your life cruising the peaceful and protected waters of the Exe, admire the scenery and unwind for the day. 

Mother’s Day Craft Workshop at Studio 2, Bovey Tracey (26th March) 

If your family are lovers of arts and craft, you’ll surely enjoy a pom pom-making workshop with Pom Stitch Tassle at their studio in Bovey Tracey. As part of the workshop, you and your family will craft a lovely pom pom flower bouquet, which you’ll be able to take home to display! This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 5, and all are welcome.  

Enjoy a Spa Day 

Every mum deserves some time to relax and unwind so you could treat her to a luxurious spa day! There are plenty of places in Devon you could take her, including; Gaia Spa at Boringdon Hall in Plymouth, Thurlestone Voyage Spa at Thurlestone Hotel near Kingsbridge, Hawkchurch Resort Spa and Hawkchurch Holiday Park Resort and Spa in Axminster, Ilsington Country House Hotel Spa in Bovey Tracey, Sirona Wellbeing and Spa in Chudleigh, Aspara Day Spa at Royal York and Faulkner in Sidmouth, The Grand Hotel Spa or Aztec Spa, both in Torquay

Treat your mum to lunch this Mother’s Day 

You could treat mum to a delicious lunch in the award winning restaurant the Trevilder at Thurlestone Hotel. Enjoy a three course traditional Sunday Lunch for £35 per person and it comes with a little gift for mum! Two Bridges Hotel, located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park are offering a three course lunch for £32 each, and £20 per child. If you’re based near Dawlish, Langstone Cliff Hotel serve a lovely 5 course Sunday lunch for just £21! The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock is offering three courses, served with fresh, local produce for £29 if you’re in West Devon. If you've got a plant-based family memeber, you could take them to Dukes Inn in Sidmouth as they have an excellent Vegan option on their Mother's Day Lunch menu! Lots of other places are also offering a lovely Mother’s Day lunches, so take a look on our Food and Drink page to see if there’s a place near you! 

Something else? 

If you’re looking for something else, there’s plenty of free things to do in Devon. You could visit one of our many stunning beaches, explore Dartmoor National Park, take a bike ride through Haldon Forest, along one of the three Okehampton Cycle Routes, or from Tavistock to Plymouth on Drakes Trail. If your mum fancies herself a bit of a gardener, you could take her to one of our many garden centres, or if she enjoys the outdoors, perhaps take her kayaking with Sea Kayak Devon or embrace a Segway experience through Cann Woods
