Guest Blog Post - Stagecoach
Heading out for a night in Exeter, Torbay, Plymouth or North Devon just got easier thanks to the launch of nine new Night Bus services from Stagecoach South West, starting on Saturday 31st May 2025.
These new services, running every Saturday night until 20th December, offer a safe, affordable and reliable way to travel after hours – whether you’re enjoying a meal, catching up with friends, or heading home from a late shift.
Supported by Devon and Cornwall Police, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and several local partners, the initiative builds on successful trials in North Devon and Torquay that saw strong uptake from new late-night passengers.
A Boost for South Devon’s Night-Time Economy
The goal of the scheme is not only to improve access to evening events and hospitality but to help reduce alcohol and drug-related incidents, antisocial behaviour, and make nightlife safer – particularly for women and girls.
Alison Hernandez, Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, said:
“This is a fantastic step for safety and convenience. It encourages people to enjoy Devon’s nightlife without the need for taxis or a designated driver — and gets them home for less than the price of a pint.”
Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West, added:
“We’re proud to be offering more safe and affordable options for evening travel. It’s all about meeting the needs of local people and visitors, and working with partners to make Devon’s night-time economy more accessible and secure.”
When and Where Will the Night Buses Run?
