Whether you're fascinated by fine art, captivated by local history or simply looking to meet like-minded people, there's never been a better time to discover the Plymouth & South Devon Arts Society.

This September, The Arts Society is taking centre stage in a national campaign with Classic FM, shining a spotlight on the hundreds of local societies that bring people together through a shared love of the arts. As one of the UK's leading arts education charities, The Arts Society has around 70,000 members worldwide, with 20 local societies across Devon, Cornwall and South Somerset.

Here in South Devon, we're proud to be one of the largest societies in the region, welcoming members with an interest in everything from art, architecture and archaeology to music, literature, fashion, gardens and the decorative arts.

Throughout the year, our members enjoy a fascinating programme of lectures delivered by expert speakers from museums, galleries, universities and even television programmes such as Antiques Roadshow. Every month offers the chance to explore a new topic, whether that's the stories behind Renaissance masterpieces, Britain's grand country houses, contemporary design or the history of jewellery and ceramics.

But joining the Arts Society is about far more than attending lectures.

We also organise visits to museums, galleries, exhibitions and historic houses, creating opportunities to experience culture first-hand while getting to know fellow members. Many people join because of their interest in the arts, but stay because of the friendships they've made along the way.

As part of The Arts Society, we're also proud to support heritage conservation, educational initiatives and community projects, helping to protect and celebrate our shared cultural heritage for future generations.

If you've ever wondered whether the Arts Society is for you, we'd love to welcome you along. Our monthly meetings are held at the Future Inn in Derriford, where visitors are invited to attend a lecture before deciding whether they'd like to become a member.
