Historic England commenced a thematic listing of World War 1 memorials to commemorate the human loss and 100 year anniversary of the First World War.  The memorials also often included inscriptions from World War II and other battles, and is particularly relevant to family history.   Teignbridge District Council supported the thematic listing by helping to have all its eligible memorials listed in the district, in commemoration and memory of the men and women who lost their lives.
