The Stover Canal

Newton Abbot - Teigngrace, Devon
The Stover Canal

Book Tickets Online

The Stover Canal runs for nearly two miles north from the Jetty Marsh Local Nature Reserve, Newton Abbot to Ventiford Basin, Ley Green, Teigngrace. It is an important part of the local heritage and was significant to the industrial growth of the surrounding area and the line of the canal and it's features are steadily being restored by volunteers.

The approximate half way point is the canal bridge at Teigngrace level crossing where car parking is available. Alongside the downstream section from the canal bridge is a pedestrian-only, cinder-topped walk along the original towpath. Upstream of the bridge there is the Stover Way, a paved cycle and walkway with access to canal locks and features.

With no opening restrictions or admission fees, the towpath provides a quiet walk in beautiful countryside at any time of the year. More information can be found on the website: stovercanal.co.uk
