Revitalising and authentic wood-fired sauna and cold plunge at Haldon Forest Park, near Exeter and Newton Abbot.
Yussef’s first experience of a sauna was when he used one on the eve of his wedding day. It was love at first sight and he soon got his childhood friend Jake hooked. They both became frequent sauna users, Yussef as a way to manage his autoimmune health condition, and Jake as a way to spend time with friends after turning sober.
They have both travelled the country experiencing the joys of mobile saunas in beautiful nature spots and wanted to bring this magical experience home with them, to the beauty of the Devonshire countryside.
Our sauna is our pride and joy. The wood-fired sauna, handmade in Latvia, is a simple yet elegant design with a beautiful panoramic window. For those brave enough to try the cold plunge we have repurposed two freestanding baths - and also have some Kent & Stowe watering cans for those who can’t quite face total submersion!
We run the sauna between 70-95 degrees, aiming to keep it at an accessible and fun temperature which delivers all of the great physical & mental health benefits while still being bearable for first-timers. There are also sauna hats available for guests which can protect the hair and prevent your head and ears getting too hot in the sauna. Also available is an electrolyte concentrate which offers increased hydration while minimising plastic waste.
The site is at Haldon Forest Park. Our sauna is just a minute or so drive from the main site, down Old Exeter Road. Our what3words is merely.improves.cools. These Google maps directions will take you to the right place. We don't have a shower or toilet block at the sauna, but both are available at the main Haldon Forest site.
