Dawlish Great Big Green Week

Residents in Dawlish are taking part in a nationwide campaign this
month to highlight the need for urgent action on climate and nature
ahead of COP26, the United Nations Climate talks, later this year in
Glasgow.
Taking place, from the 18th-26th September, the climate action campaign
known as the Great Big Green Week will see thousands of people across the
UK organising local festivals and events. The campaign aims to draw attention
to climate change, destruction of the natural world, while also making a
connection with these issues in communities like Dawlish, at the same time as
showcasing actions to tackle climate change.
In Dawlish, Sustainable Dawlish Group is hosting a series of events ranging
from Ranger Guided Walks, a Foraging Walk, Apple Pressing at a local farm, a
Fair Trade afternoon tea and concert, a Climate Change talk with Q&A, an
environmental film – After the Flood – shown at the Shaftesbury Theatre, a
litter pick, and others. The event will be opened by the mayor of Dawlish at
10:00 on Saturday 18 th September on the Dawlish Lawn, (or the Manor subject
to bad weather), where a variety of local environmental groups will have a
presence. There will also be local school choirs and acoustic/classical guitar
music performed on the day.
