The GWC 10k Walk/Run is back!

Save the date! Sunday, 10th July 2022 is when the annual 10k walk/run will take place, all in aid of raising funds for the Young Lives VS Cancer charity. Starting at Tiverton Canal Basin, you can either run or walk along one of Devon’s most picturesque canals to a fun family festival at the Sampford Peverell playing fields. After being held as a virtual race for the past two years, due to Covid19, there is much excitement about the event this year.

Cullompton based advertising company Adopstar and GWC10k committee members have committed to organising this, the 29th GWC 10k event. Theresa Benson, the Managing Director of Adopstar, explained that the company has been supporting Young Lives VS Cancer since the end of 2015. The charity supports children and young people with cancer and their families. Past fundraising events arranged by Adopstar include a head shave, an Easter Fiesta and skydiving jumps, 24hr gaming streams among other crazy things! “They have been such a great charity, and so far we’ve raised £87,000.

Chloe Latty from Adopstar who is helping to organise the event said there would be lots to enjoy throughout the day. It all starts at 8:30 am with the runners leaving at 10:00 am in groups of 30, the walkers will then leave at 10:30 am. Once walkers and runners reach the finish line, there will be a fun packed festival with live music, a bar and lots of entertainment for all the whole family! “At the Festival we have lots going on including inflatables for the children, games, food, facepaints, glitter tattoos, live music and more. We are also having a competition for the largest group of participants and the most money raised, where the winners will be presented with a special shield.

Spaces are limited so we encourage everyone to book in advance. We hope as many people as possible will participate. There will be refreshment stations all the way along, with water bowls for your four-legged friends so the whole family can enjoy a nice walk.
