In the Medieval period settlers returned to Dartmoor, continuing the practice of building houses from the area’s abundant resource – granite. 

West Devon also boasts a rich history dating back thousands of years. From Bronze Age settlements to the industrial revolution, the region has witnessed significant milestones. Landmarks like Merrivale and Buckland Abbey offer glimpses into its past, making West Devon just as captivating a destination for history enthusiasts.
