Pristine Environment

Blackpool Sands is celebrated for its cleanliness and environmental efforts. The beach's Blue Flag status is a testament to its high standards of water quality, safety and eco-friendliness. Visitors are encouraged to respect the natural surroundings, ensuring that this beautiful beach remains pristine for future generations.

Activities for All Ages

Blackpool Sands is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and beach lovers alike. The calm, sheltered waters are perfect for swimming and watersports such as paddleboarding and kayaking. The beach even offers a SUP inflation station so you can inflate your paddleboards with ease. If you don’t have your own watersports equipment, or don’t want to deal with the hassle of packing it, there’s no need to worry as Blackpool Sands offer rented paddleboards and kayaks. There's even saunas that you can hire here which are especially popular with wild swimmers in the cooler months as a way of warming up quickly after a cold dip in the sea.

Family-Friendly Facilities

Families will find Blackpool Sands to be an ideal destination. There are lifeguards on duty during the peak season, ensuring a safe environment for children to play and swim. However, despite its name, Blackpool Sands is not sandy beach, but instead is a mixture of pebbles and shingle, however there is a sandpit added in the summer months for children to play in. The beach offers excellent facilities, including clean and well-maintained restrooms, showers and baby changing areas. Additionally, there’s a cafe located right on the beach that serves light bites and drinks as well as hearty meals if you forget to pack your picnic!

Scenic Walks and Wildlife

Beyond the beach itself, the surrounding area offers a wealth of natural beauty, being located in the South Devon National Landscape (previously AONB). Take a leisurely stroll along the South West Coast Path, which runs adjacent to Blackpool Sands, and enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline. The nearby woodland areas are perfect for exploring and spotting local wildlife, including a variety of birds and small mammals.

Planning Your Visit

Blackpool Sands is most easily accessible by car, with ample parking available just a short walk from the beach; please note that you must pay for parking. For those using public transport, there are regular bus services from nearby towns such as Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. The beach is open year-round, with the summer months being the most popular. However, a visit during the quieter off-season offers a more tranquil experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of this stunning location.

Whether you're looking to relax with the family, take a dip in the refreshing sea, or explore the rich natural surroundings, Blackpool Sands Beach is a destination that promises an unforgettable experience. Plan your visit today and discover why this South Devon treasure is loved by locals and visitors alike.
