Course: Traditional Upholstery Masterclass with The Bristol Upholstery Collective

Create beautiful and unique pieces of furniture in this seven-day overview of Traditional Upholstery, led by BBC One Money for Nothing Artisan and Director of the award-winning Bristol Upholstery Collective, Leigh-Anne Treadwell.

The course covers sustainability, craft economy, new materialism, heritage skills and values. From getting to grips with coil springs to removing exiting upholstery, preparing timber frames, stapling, sewing, cutting and more, student will learn the skills to upholster different styles of furniture. Students will create an upholster item of their choice, such as dining chairs, footstools or piano stools, using traditional upholstery tools and techniques and natural materials. Suitable small-scale personal projects tackled on this course could be dining chairs, footstools, occasional chairs, piano stools and other types of stools.
