East Budleigh Scarecrow Festival

East Budleigh's Famous Scarecrow Festival promises to an event packed with village charm and something for all ages over the weekend of 8th and 9th June. The event opens at 11am on the Saturday and closes with the Scarecrow Songs of Praise at 6pm on Sunday evening.

Wander the streets spotting scarecrows placed 'just for fun' and soaking up the atmosphere of this beautiful and lively community. This year there is even a wedding!

This annual festival raises funds for the fabric of All Saints Church, whose tower you can climb on Saturday to enjoy unique views of the area. Below in the High Street a toll will be re-instated, requiring a small donation to cross the Budleigh Brook.

With bacon rolls, cream teas and cake, stalls and a play area for children, the Village Hall might be a good place to start if you don't know the village well. Collect a free map and programme from the information point, thanks to our sponsors Gilbert Stephens and don't forget to get a duck for the race.

Find time to visit the Church, Drake's school, Church Hall and Salem Chapel where there are more stalls and displays to enjoy. Classic Cars and a Rally Car Parade make an appearance on Sunday and there will also be a Dog Show from midday. The pub, the Sir Walter Raleigh and East Budleigh's Community Shop will be open throughout.
