The aim of the festival has always been to bring cultural life to Seaton, a town which has an amazing location but has been sometimes slightly forgotten compared to its neighbours. The artists we have chosen cross divides but unite under their soulfulness, love and passion within genres of jazz, DnB, electronica, ska, and even some surf rock.
The festival starts on Friday eve, 3rd July, with legends of the Bristol music scene, The Rumble-O's at the Old Picture House venue. Across Saturday daytime, there will be live music and DJ's in town or by the beach, from local artists, curated by Sustainability Live Radio and East Devon Soul. Expect chilled beach vibes across jazz, electronica and latin.Wander around Seaton, grab some fresh and natural food from local businesses and head to the Gateway Theatre for 3 headline acts from the late afternoon, crossing jazz, funk, ska, soul and drum and bass borders. Rising jazz star David Kayode is followed by ska legends the Guns of Navarrone before ending in a heap with the "best live DnB band in the world", Dr Meaker. Wow!
Shunting into the Tramway will be 3 jazz acts featuring the cream of UK female talent, in association with the legendary talent agency Tomorrow's Warriors home of Ezra Collective and Nubya Garcia. We were blown away by Ankora and the Klara Devlin Trio at Giles Peterson's We Out Here Festival last summer so can't wait to welcome these talented artists into town. They are the future of UK jazz.
After this, wander over the road to the Old Picture House for some live electronic music, including festival favourites The Egg. We love them. Live electronica which get your pulses racing in dreamy, dancey delirium. Finishing off the live music will be Kaya Fyah, a future mega star, fusing spiritual dance music with DnB, with her band before she ventures to numerous major festivals across the globe.
Finish the day at the beach, enjoying sunset with a lovely cocktail/ beer with DJ's at Tide, The Vault and Hideaway venues until the early hours.
The town is going to resonate with wonderful music. Fingers crossed for gorgeous weather, but even if not then the majority of music is inside.
