The Railway Studies Collection at Newton Abbot Library is delighted to announce the return of its third biennial Railway Studies and Modellers Show, taking place on Saturday 8th November 2025. The event will run from 10am to 4pm at the Passmore Edwards Centre, home of the Railway Studies Collection.
This much-anticipated event offers an unforgettable day out for enthusiasts, newcomers to the world of railways and families alike. Entry is by donation, with a suggested contribution of £5, which directly supports the preservation and continued development of the Railway Studies Collection.
Event Highlights Include:
Model Railway Layouts
Explore a captivating array of model railway layouts in a variety of gauges—including H0, OO, and Electric Garden Gauge—showcasing meticulous craftsmanship, detailed local scenery, and intricate miniatures, including some displays that are new to the show this year.
Railway Archive Showcase
Discover more about the collection from The Friends of the Railway Studies Collection who have put together a fascinating history of rail transport with a curated photo exhibition and a selection of never-before-seen items from the collection.
Family-Friendly Activities
Enjoy a range of engaging activities for children and families, including a railway-themed Story Time, Lego Club, crafts and a railway-themed trail around the library.
Traders & Exhibitors
Explore a variety of stalls offering model kits, railway memorabilia, books, and hobbyist supplies—perfect for collectors and newcomers alike.
Food & Refreshments
Take a break at The Owl and the Pussycat Coffee House, our on-site café, serving delicious food and drinks, throughout the day.
Getting Here & Accessibility
The event will take place throughout the library which includes the first floor, with easy access via the lift or stairs.
